Friendship BANDS!
5:22 PM
Thursday, December 01, 2005 Oh god! I was thinking about how it was so sad to end a friendship with your friends in Primary School so i thought about making friendship bands...But i was sure my friends(and me) were sick and tired of my old kind...so i went to the internet to look for new ones and saw instructions to make friendship bracelets! ISn't that a perfect idea? Imagine, everytime your friends wear your bracelet they think of you? SO i would like to share with you the way to makin': ~Cool Friendship BraceLEts~ OK YOu would need: -6 strands of yarn (or embroidery thread) each 24" (60 cm) long. -Each strand represents a letter in the word F R I E N D. -You may choose any colors you like. I don't think the measurements are that important...i think so as long as it is a multiple of six or something cause there are six strings or watever...AHHH i dunno...best stick to the measurements. Steps:
In case you didn't know what an overhand knot is, it is like as in the picture...the one leaving the top of the string or yarn or rope( i dun think rope can work) loose at the top of the knot. IF you still don't know...well i suggest you ask sumone close for help(esp. mothers or grandmas who are professionals in sewing or knots)
That means, if you don't understand fully, u hold on tight to string R and pull string F up until it the knot is tightened...usually if you can't pull string F anymore...(pls be careful or you will end up continue pulling and pulling until ur string or yarn or watever splits... <---jokin' again.) 3.Make a second knot the same way with string F over and around string R. Pull up on F to tighten. I know that is a little confusing... it means you follow the picture. Do not worry: although you might not see the pervious knot in the picture it is there ok. SO do not freak out and untie the first knot... :P <-- Ya tat means i am jokin' The two knots refer to the knots you learn to make in step 2 to 3. ok? But this time do it on the string I and NOt string R...or string R will overload. :P<--OK u know it. I am jokin' I think for once the instruction is clear enough. It means you repeat steps 2 to 3 with the strings E, N and D. Don't ask me what about the strings R and I...You know that you are already done with them! :P<--- sry for fooling around but i can't help it. 6.Continue the next row by taking the first string on the left, now string R, and making two knots over and around each of the other strings I, E, N, D and F. With each row the string on the left is worked over to the right side. I know the picture is too fast... OK i should have stopped at string F but just to let you see the results OK... But i think u can understand the instruction...so i won't explain it in detail again ok... (to prevent fooling around) Hey, NOt yet done! 7.When you have woven enough to fit around your wrist, tie another overhand knot to complete. To wear the bracelet, tie the two ends together in a square knot and trim the extra strings. In this case, if you are doing for a friend, you friend's wrist ok. I don't know about the square knot thing...But i think you can replace it with another overhand knot...cause it will work too...or else you can tie the ends together. Sry but i really don't know. BUt however, if you happen to be an expert in knots, pls tell us what it means! Or, if you have an expert in knots near you, help us ask her or him! I belive i will thank you greatly! :) Till next time( i know you are sick and tired of this phrase...) |
